October kicks off its first Monday this year with World Habitat Day, designated by the United Nations, on October 5, 2009. This year’s theme is Planning our Urban Future and will be celebrated globally with events planned by the U.S. Department for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and UN-HABITAT, along with other policy institutes, non-governmental organizations, and foundations.

Our Action Agenda of April 2009 and the events surrounding the next two months highlight the importance of providing continued support to the individuals and families who are in need of adequate housing, health, and hunger resources.
